Classic tone: Dogs

Now I just purchased a Jazzmaster Squire. A gut feeling told me before I received it that I couldn’t strike gold twice. I finally released the JAZZ from the well packed box and plugged in.. First I noticed the action was high then noticed a slight bow half way up the neck and of course the intonation was off.. I’m not a luthier but common sense prevailed with what this guitar needed. Like the Jag it took a little while to get a handle on what did what to dial in right sound.. With the tone adjustment I was able to dial in what I like for the blues older electric blues a nasally slippery sound best way to describe it.

Lawndale CA Fender’s methods of using serial numbers on steel guitars varied constantly; there is no pattern and there have even been repeated numbers used. The model is a “Custom” – they were reportedly offered from , although the bulk of them were sold between , when the Stringmaster was introduced. Usually the best way to get a rough date on these is by the presence or lack thereof of plates or decals on the body.

Pflugerville, TX danny hare said: Not unless there is a stamp on the heel of the neck you’ll have to take it off to find that. Fender doesn’t have detailed records on anything prior to That’s why a lot of even more recent guitars you can only narrow it down to a year or two range, because sometimes months pass between when a neck is made and when it is assembled onto a body to make a complete guitar. As I understand it, Fender builds necks and bodies in big batches on separate assembly lines, then those parts go into storage until needed by the main assembly line where complete guitars are put together.

Serial numbers are applied to the necks when they are made, not when they are assembled onto a body.

A killer metal axe with cool looks with Tribal graphics, Widow headstock, and beveled edges which catch light and give it a very 3D look on stage. The main attraction of this axe, however, is one major upgrade in the tone dept. Now this guitar sounds as bad-ass as it looks.

About Guitars Buying a new guitar is a considerable investment for most of us. An instrument is all about inspiration. You are the musician and the guitar is the tool you use to express your feelings and music. This has nothing to do with what models you choose or how much they cost. Some basic knowledge about the different wood types, neck and body profiles, pickups etc will help you in making the best choice.

However, over the last decade or so, the MIMs has gotten a considerable face lift and the overall quality is very high. In fact, the reason why they are cheaper, ha sless to do with quality but rather lower labour costs, cheaper type of laquer and apply methods etc. Japanese Fenders are considered to be above the Mexicans and perhaps even just as good as the US. In the 80s and early 90s, Japanese Fenders were well known for being superior to any other models and the quality is still top notch.

These models were Fender models and not Squier models. The stratocasters had Fender USA pickups installed and were made for the Japanese market only and not for export. The Squier series were also made available for the Japanese market in October , which incorporated small changes compared to the export Squier series.

These guitars already have a great vintage vibe with an authentic looking two-tone sunburst gloss finish, parchment parts, and tinted neck, so the vintage logo is icing on the cake. Other features include C-shaped maple neck with maple fingerboard and modern 9. Like the early vintage models this guitar also has stacked knobs with a volume and tone on each pot. The tone pots are the click type, rather than a smooth taper; nice touch.

Japanese Manufacturers of Made in Japan Badged Electric Guitars From 1960 to 1980

Still, the song that brings out the enthusiastic grin on most of us is of course Dogs. Dogs dates back to the middle of the Dark Side of the Moon tour. David wrote most of the music later stated that he was particularly proud of the chord progression. The earliest version even had a long choir part in the middle section, similar to what David and Richard used to do on the 4-piece live version of Atom.

Jul 31,  · Hi everyone, Can you please help me out, im searching for hours, but cant find info thats sure. So im thinking to buy a squier, something series, i cant read it .

This is one of the most frustrating questions from the MIJ collector. People often make the mistake of citing the American or European importer as the ‘maker’ of the guitar, when in fact several Japanese manufacturers were producing badged guitars out of their plants and shipping them to America and Europe to sell. Japanese manufacturers made multiple badges at the same plant, many of whom resemble each other closely. Some manufacturers merged or changed hands over the years which added to the confusion, sometime merging with another maker, only to pick up their name later.

In some cases a manufacturer would farm out production to various manufacturers, making it still more difficult to know who made the guitar in your hands. Parts from other guitars would be used in the making of a particular badge for a period of time because it was all the manufacturer had to hand And sometimes, the guitar which is supposed to be an MIJ guitar is actually made elsewhere Korea, Indonesia because production was moved during this period in history.

This page is a work in progress and as new information is revealed it will be added to the list. But I can’t do this alone, folks. See a guitar not listed? In some cases I won’t know because the badge you have may be extremely rare and virtually unknown to even seasoned collectors.

Serial Number dating?

I own quite a few guitars 9 I think , but on inparticular is a favourite of mine: An old Korean Squier Strat that I picked up around I was wondering, is there any way to date these guitars from the serial number?

In past articles we’ve looked at classic Floyd songs like Echoes and Comfortably Numb, which both are favourites to many and the essence of David’s tone from two eras. Still, the song that brings out the enthusiastic grin on most of us is of course Dogs. For me it was what got me into.
